My New Years (Mini) Resolution

I’ve never really been a “New Years Resolution” type of person.

I don’t know why, there are a bunch of things I’d like to do, tasks I’d like to accomplish… you could call them little victories, I suppose.  Though every year I don’t sit down and commit to it in a resolution-y way.

I think it’s because I can’t ever really think of a goal worthy of the title “resolution.”  As this is my first New Year out of school, I put a little more thought into a resolution.  I still wouldn’t quite call it that, but I have a goal that I set for myself.  So, I guess this year I actually do have a New Years Resolution.  Yayyyy me!

So, the mini goal that I set for myself is:  do the splits!

Why that?  That’s not very resolution-y.  Kinda weird Melissa, don’t you think?

Yes, yes, yes, I know.  I chose this in particular because I’ve been meaning to start stretching for about 6 years now.  No joke!  I’ve wanted to start yoga for ages.  The yogis I follow look absolutely fantastic, fit, and flexible.

So yeah.  That’s my resolution.

I figured it’d be a good idea to take some before pictures.  This way I can have a look back at where I started and see just how far I’ve come.  Here they are:

These photos are after stretching once a day for three days.  I am doing my best to keep my front leg straight and my front foot flat on the mat.  I know this isn’t perfect, but I’m so excited to see the finished product.  Not only that, but stretching this much will also allow me to truly start practicing yoga. I’M SO EXCITED!  ( P.S.  How fun are my tights?!?!? )

While it should never take a new year to turn a new leaf, it’s nice to see people all over the world setting goals and striving for them.  It’s a worldwide movement to better ourselves.  How freaking cool is that?!

Set some goals and go after them this year!  Remember… 2015 won’t change anything unless you do.  Go get ’em!
